David Chang will pursue an MBA at Duke University starting in the fall of 2007 to develop skill set in social entrepreneurship. Previously, he worked in real estate consulting and was a former Peace Corps volunteer in Bangladesh. David hopes to intersect his interest in real estate and passion in working in emerging economies to build sustainable ventures.
As an undergrad at UC Berkeley, David joined various organizations and took courses that shed light on issues in his parents’ homeland. In visiting Taiwan, David engrossed himself in learning about its difficult period of foreign occupation, martial law, and democracy movement. David is looking forward to the Ambassador Program experience to provide the impetus to give him the tools to impart change and awareness to others.
David’s interests include surfing, rowing, and Jimmy Buffett music. |

Pattie Chang graduated in 2004 from the Business Honors Program at the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and Accounting. Over the next three years, she has fulfilled various financial analysis roles at Shell. In addition to her commercial contributions, Pattie has led efforts to promote Diversity & Inclusiveness and employee development at Shell. She coordinated diversity dialogues with senior management and founded the Shell Asian Pacific American Finance Employee Network.
Pattie is looking to further develop herself by pursuing her MBA at Rice University Class of 2009. She is also active in Toastmasters International, yoga, and traveling. |

Annie Ying-wen Chen is currently pursuing an MBA degree in International Business at the National Chengchi University in Taiwan. She will be an exchange student in the fall of 2007, to study at the International University of Japan, where she would pursue advanced knowledge in international business and international relations. Annie’s undergraduate education was in statistics.
In 2006 Annie worked a research assistant for the Performing Arts Alliance in Taipei. She studied and quantified the influence and impact of Taiwan's performing arts industries on the overall economy. The end result of her study was a report submitted to Taiwan’s Council of Cultural Affairs, which used the report for policy recommendations to the government. |

Chinling Chen was born and raised in Taipei. Upon graduating from high school, she and family immigrated to Texas. After two years at Dallas County Community College, Chinling was accepted to Texas A&M University, where she graduated in May 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in Renewable Natural Resources Management/ Environmental Studies.
Chinling’s immediate plan is to be a summer intern with USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, while applying to graduate schools to pursue a master’s degree in either Environmental Policy or Urban Planning. Chinling is very excited about this ambassador program and she believes that she will learn a lot from others through active participation. |

A native of Taiwan, Chen, I-Yin is known to her friends as Lucy. When Lucy was 11 years old, her family emigrated to Manila, the Philippines, where she attended primary and secondary schools. In 2004, Lucy graduated from De La Salle University- Manila with a bachelor’s degree in International Studies. Since then she has returned to Taiwan to pursue a master’s degree in Political Science at the National Taiwan University.
Lucy considers herself an optimistic and open-minded person who takes a holistic approach towards every task. She enjoys learning about new ideas and philosophies, as well as meeting people with different backgrounds. |

Michelle Chi is a new graduate of the University of Tennessee – Knoxville with a degree in Biological Sciences-- Biochemistry, Cellular, and Molecular Biology. She is also an avid violinist and participated in the UT Symphony Orchestra for four years.
This coming fall, she will be attending medical school at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. Michelle is very excited to be participating in the Ambassador Program and hopes to become more knowledgeable and involved within the Taiwanese-American community. |

Albert Chou recently passed his comprehensive exam, thus becoming a doctorate candidate in the University of Nebraska at Lincoln (UNL). Albert’s major is political science, with specializations in American Politics and Public Policy. He is particularly interested in creating a cultural framework to associate Taiwanese Americans with Taiwan’s identity. Albert’s dissertation advisor, John Hibbing, a distinguished congressional scholar, has for many years trained Albert and others on influencing policymaking in Congress.
Albert is currently working as a graduate assistant in the Academic Advising Center at UNL. He gives academic guidance Asian American students, and also teaches Chinese language classes. Through interaction with Asian Americans, Albert hopes to familiarize them with the success of Taiwan’s democracy. |

As a 2007 Taiwan Ambassador, Tiffany Chu is delighted to have the opportunity to make a difference in one of the international issues that sits closest to her heart. Tiffany is studying at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, majoring in Architecture and Urban Studies & Planning while contemplating the ways that she can save the world at the same time. She currently serves as the Publicity Chair for both MIT’s Association of Taiwanese Students and 2010 Class Council, and is involved in the Anti-Poverty Campaign at MIT, Chamber Music Society, Kappa Alpha Theta sorority, and Dance Revelasian, Boston’s premiere classical Chinese dance troupe. Last summer, Tiffany also traveled throughout rural Taiwan with the KingCar Education Foundation ABC Schweitzer Taiwan Service Program, volunteering and teaching English to aboriginal and disadvantaged children. A native of Bridgewater, New Jersey, Tiffany adores modern art, tennis, and national parks. |

Melissa Hsin-Tsu Chuang is currently studying in the Department of Applied English in National Taipei University of Technology. Active within and outside of school activities, she is now the vice president of the department’s student association, the art director of the Student Ambassadors, the student coordinator of the Student News Reporters, as well as the soprano leader of Youth Choir. In 2006, she was selected as the Outstanding Student of her department.
Melissa enjoys meeting new people, traveling to exotic places, and learning about different cultures. She was raised in Taiwan and the U.S. Having a close bond with both countries, she would like help develop and strengthen the good relations between the two and learn more to promote Taiwan’s democracy. |

Recently, she finished a semester in Washington D.C. where she interned at the Guatemala Human Rights Commission-USA and studied in the Washington D.C. Maxwell Program. After completing her Bachelor’s Degree in 2008, she will continue her studies at law school either in the U.S. or in Puerto Rico. Charlotte specializes in U.S.-Latin American policy, but is also involved in other global issues. Her goal is to be as well informed about the world as possible. Currently, she is planning to study abroad during the spring semester of 2008 in Hong Kong. |

Han-Pin Huang is a graduate student at National Taiwan University, where he studied since 2004 majoring in international relations. He spent five years studying English and French at a junior college and another three yearsat Tsing-Hua University, reading principally linguistics, Japanese and European literature.
An excellent swimmer, Han-Pin fulfilled his 2-year military obligation by working as a coast guard. In his leisure time, Han-Pin enjoys listening to world news programs on the internet and reading language columns on IHT. Han-Pin is already thinking about taking up painting after he retires. |

Yingte Huang was born and raised in Taipei, Taiwan. After graduating from Taiwan’s top high school for boys, Chien-Kuo Senior High School, Yingte won a scholarship from Taiwan’s government, which provided him the means and opportunity to study in the United States. Yingte is an active member and a freshman representative in Duke’s Taiwanese Student Associatio.
Yingte’s interest in politics started when he was in the 10th grade, after having attended a few political demonstrations and rallies in Taiwan. The most recent demonstration he participated in was in 2005, against China’s anti-secession law. |

Wayne also participated in Pathfinders where he gave English lessons to visually impaired/blind children in Taipei, Taiwan.

Daniel Y. Koo was born in the United States and moved to Taiwan with his family when he was 10 and has lived there since. Being both an American and a Taiwanese, he understands the important role the U.S. plays in ensuring that democracy and human rights continue to flourish in Taiwan.
Daniel is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering at the National Taiwan University, where he has developed a strong interest in industrial pollution treatment and environmental protection. In the future he hopes to help in the making of environmental legislations and the promoting of green technology. |

Julie Lin works full-time at JP Morgan Chase in Baltimore, manages 55 people, and speaks 4 languages fluently. She also maintains a perfect 4.0 GPA in the Johns Hopkins’ M.S Organization Development and Strategic Human Resource program.
Last October, Julie directed global off-shoring and cost savings initiatives in Mumbai, India, providing perspective for the master’s thesis she is now writing on global sourcing. Today, as an operations shift manager, she is determining the strategic vision for the 2nd shift and change management teams. A strong thread throughout has been her commitment to diversity, including serving as a Champion on Baltimore’s Diversity Council.

Fluent in Taiwanese and Japanese, Frank Ling is a postdoctoral fellow at the Renewable and Appropriate Energy Laboratory (RAEL) at UC Berkeley. Frank's interests are in ecological and economic sustainability as well as in social responsibility. He is currently studying how technologies and policies can be used to lower the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions that are responsible for global warming.
In addition to research, Frank is interested in promoting science literacy and produces the Berkeley Groks science show for radio and podcast. On his program, he has featured several Taiwanese scientists. Frank was previously an intern at the Voice of America where he was an Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Science Media Fellow.

Yi-Chun Liu is pursuing a Ph.D. at Texas A & M University, in Teaching English as a Foreign Language. For the 2006-07 school year, Yi-Chun was elected president of Taiwanese Student Association, 150 members strong, and is an officer in her department’s Graduate Student Association. While working as a graduate assistant in Study Abroad Office, she helped fellow American students prepare for researching experiences in Taiwan. Yi-Chun earned a master’s degree from the University of North Carolina in 2003. She spent over two years as an English language instructor at several educational institutions and universities in her hometown, Tainan.
Yi-Chun is proud of the fact that she is an active citizen when it comes to promoting Taiwan to the international community. She participated in Taiwan’s International Affairs Seminar training program; she served as a counselor for Overseas Youth Language Training and Study Tour to Taiwan, and was a student representative for the Youth Leadership Program hosted by Taiwan's Ketagalan Institute. |

Angela Huan-An Ma is a sophomore at the National Chengchi University in Taiwan, majoring in Advertising and Business Administration. Her thirst for new challenges and interest in international relations has propelled her to participate in various programs and extracurricular activities, which ultimately led her to join the Ambassador Program.
Participation in the Model United Nations was the catalyst that ignited Angela’s interest in international affairs. She was first introduced to the simulation game through a scholastic club, the Youth Association of International Affairs (YAIC), during her freshman year. Angela was later selected as one of the few club members to attend the 2006 American Model United Nations (AMUN) held in Chicago.
Anxious and excited, Angela has chosen a road less traveled in hopes of continuing her quest to reflect upon what it is she lacks, to be inspired by distinguished peers, to fulfill her potential, and to strive for excellence. |

Charles Pan is studying at Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, concentrating in Finance and Management with a minor in Political Science. He has long been involved in Taiwanese American affairs, first getting involved at his home in Kentucky. He currently serves as the National Programs Director for the Intercollegiate Taiwanese American Students Association (ITASA). In that position, Charles has led Leadership Retreats staged at college campuses across the country with the purpose of developing Taiwanese American leaders and increasing awareness for Taiwanese American organizations. In addition, he spearheaded the Survey for Students with Taiwanese Background, a nationwide study on the political and social opinions of Taiwanese American students. Charles also serves as Vice-President Internal for the Penn Taiwanese Society and is an active member of the Alpha Kappa Psi Professional Business Fraternity. |

Jeana Shoji recently graduated from New York University with a B.A. in Politics, concentrating in International and American politics. She spent one year of undergraduate in Florence, Italy, which inspired her to also complete a minor in Italian. As an active member of Alpha Sigma Tau Sorority during her time at NYU, Jeana held several positions including Parliamentarian and Recruitment Counselor, and served the local community through philanthropic projects.
During the summer of 2005, Jeana worked for Mike Bloomberg’s mayoral campaign to help re-elect Bloomberg as the Mayor of New York City. She has also interned at Panasonic and Edelman Public Relations, where she acquired experiences in the field of public relations and communications.

Jennifer Wu is studying Business/Economics and Asian Studies at UC Berkeley. Last year she took several student-taught courses (DeCals) related to Taiwan, including Beginner’s Taiwanese and Taiwan-China-US Relations. Jennifer is a student officer of Berkeley’s TASA (Taiwanese American Students Association) and the UC Berkeley Tzu Ching Chapter, a college group under the Tzu Chi Buddhist Relief Organization.
Jennifer’s parents have always exposed her to Taiwanese culture and affairs within the vibrant Taiwanese American community of greater San Francisco. Jennifer’s interest in Taiwan’s political matters began during Taiwan’s 2004 presidential election. Since then she has set out to promote a democratic Taiwan and the Taiwanese identity, including participating in programs like the Ambassador Program. In her spare time, Jennifer enjoys cheering for Bay Area sports teams, cooking, karaoke, and simply California’s beautiful weather. |

For the past four years, Po-kuan Wu worked as a research analyst in Taiwan WTO Centre of the Chung-Hua Institute for Economic Research, a leading think tank in Taiwan. In Taiwan WTO Centre, he is in charge of the research projects in the field of trade remedy rules, anti-dumping, subsidy and safeguard measures relating to the World Trade Organization (WTO). In 2005, he participated in the international negotiations on shipbuilding agreement of Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) held in Paris.
Po-kuan is a Ph.D. candidate in Graduate Institute of National Development, National Taiwan University. He received his BA degree in international relations from NTU, an MPhil degree of international studies from the University of Cambridge. His academic interests include European foreign policy and international trade politics. |
