Community Forum with Congressman Howard Berman

Tthe Formosa Foundation community forum on “Taiwan’s Resurgence in Washington” with Congressman Howard Berman (D-CA) was an overwhelming success.

More than 200 people were on hand at the Taiwan Center in Rosemead, CA, on the Labor Day weekend to hear Congressman Howard Berman, Ranking Member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, speak about the importance of Taiwan and his strong commitment to ensure Taiwan’s freedom and democracy.

During his remarks, Berman emphasized his respect for the people of Taiwan and their choice in the upcoming presidential election. He also underscored the importance of strengthening Taiwan’s self-defense by providing F16 C/D fighter jets. Congressman Berman urged the administration to lift restrictions on U.S.-Taiwan high-level visits, and voiced his support for Taiwan to join the visa waiver program and international organizations.

The Foundation is grateful to Congressman Berman for taking time out of his busy schedule to meet with the Taiwanese-American community and for his unwavering support. Thanks also go to all of our participants whose attendance and insightful questions truly made the event special.
